A control-led solution for a world class live music venue
At Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, lighting control is fundamental to how the space performs. The brief demanded a system that could deliver consistent, scene-based operation night after night, adapt to live performances, and remain entirely unobtrusive within this iconic venue.
Mode Lighting delivered a fully integrated eDIN+ lighting control system, combining DALI control, trailing-edge dimming, and Geneva keypads to manage the ground floor lighting with precision, reliability, and simplicity.
Respecting heritage, enhancing atmosphere
Ronnie Scott’s is defined by mood. From the moment guests arrive, lighting plays a critical role in shaping the experience — warm, intimate, and timeless.
The club’s iconic red pendant lights were carefully reimagined using cutting-edge LED technology, preserving their unmistakable appearance while dramatically improving efficiency and longevity. Alongside these, discreet spotlights, gallery-style accent lighting, and bespoke table lamps were integrated to add depth and flexibility to the space.
All lighting elements are controlled, allowing seamless transitions between pre-show ambience, live performance, and late-night sessions — without any visual distraction or operational complexity.
Scene-based control for live performance
Live music demands lighting that is predictable, repeatable, and fast to operate. Using eDIN+,
predefined scenes were programmed for different moments throughout the evening — pre-show, performance, intervals, and late-night operation — ensuring consistent ambience regardless of who is on stage.
Scene recall removes the need for manual adjustment, protecting the original lighting intent while giving venue staff confidence and ease of use.
Pre-built control, simplified installation
To streamline installation and minimise on-site complexity, the complete eDIN+ control system was manufactured off-site as a fully assembled, pre-wired enclosure, delivered ready for installation. This approach reduced time on site, ensured consistent build quality, lowered commissioning risk, and minimised disruption within a live hospitality environment. Once installed, the system could be quickly commissioned and finely tuned, allowing the focus to remain on lighting performance and ambience rather than control infrastructure.
Energy efficiency delivered through control
Energy efficiency is driven not only by LED technology, but by how effectively it is controlled. Intelligent use of DALI dimming, trailing-edge circuits, and carefully programmed scenes ensures lighting is only used where and when required.
This control-first strategy delivers reduced energy consumption while maintaining the warm, intimate atmosphere that defines Ronnie Scott’s.
