Mode Lighting is part of a privately owned group of companies specialising in the electronics industry and each company provides a relevant complementary service to the group.

Background
Mode Lighting was founded in 1970 by Mr. David Tappenden and Mr. Richard Steward producing sequencing and colour change systems for the discotheque lighting market. The seventies saw a period of exponential growth and by 1975 the first factory was purchased.  A second factory was purchased in 1985 concentrating on printed circuit board manufacture. In the early nineties, Mode diversified into architectural lighting with the introduction of the Mirage range of dimmers and the development of the first fully dimmable electronic transformer for low voltage lighting.

Throughout the last four decades our investment has been focused on research and development prompting a steady stream of innovations. This philosophy continues with developments and research in new technologies ensuring Mode remains at the forefront of the lighting and controls markets.

Premises
The Mode Group occupies well-equipped factories, offices and substantial warehousing with a total commercial area in excess of 20,000 square metres. These are located in the neighbouring towns of Ware and Hertford, 20 miles north of London. All sites are easily accessible by road, rail or air (Stansted, Luton or Heathrow).

Staff
The Mode Group employs more than 200 people. Our in-house research, development and engineering teams ensure that all Mode products meet the demanding and ever changing requirements of today’s lighting industry and are constructed using the highest quality components and production techniques.
